Montrose sits on a peninsula between a tidal basin and the sea. The Steeple of the Parish Church pinpoints the town from afar. Ever popular with summer visitors, the town with its prominent Town House, and wide High Street has a vast stretch of golden sand, wonderful golf courses and scenic countryside nearby with lots of good cycling routes to enjoy. Visitors to the hotel can explore the area on a bike and enjoy the local sites of historical interest such as the Montrose Museum, the Montrose Air Station Heritage Centre, The House of Dun with its beautiful gardens, The Caledonian Railway and for wildlife lovers, the Scottish Wildlife Trust's Centre at the Montrose Basin to name but a few attractions.
Not far away to the north are the remote, rugged, Angus Glens. These glens form part of the Southern Cairngorms National Park and you can explore them by bike with the safety of a trail guide on one of our 'Guided Cycling Weekends'. Enjoy the mountains and the sea in one day!
